We Need to Start loving God like we do our Crush

Okay, so here is something.

Sometimes, the only times that we remember that someone is there for us, is when nobody is there for us. Getting an answered prayer from God at a time when all my friends have deserted me is a sign that God is still there for me. God is the silent guy who truly and deeply loves us. We need to decide to love him too. We need to decide to show interest. We need to make sure that we do not love God simply because of the blessings that he offers to us, or his help during times of need, but we need to pay attention to him and love him because he loves us.

Here are some interesting ways to show love to God

  1. Be interested in knowing about him: through the word of God, you can know a lot about the spiritual world, past events, and God’s rules. However, take particular interest in God, and seek to know his character.
  2. Talk to God: talk to God in prayer, and tell him exactly how you feel. Be honest about your struggles, and tell him where you need help. Also, tell him that you are on a journey to truly loving him, and ask him to show you how to love him.
  3. Listen to God: God speaks. You need to learn to listen to him. You can find information on some ways to hear from God here How to build a relationship with God
  4. Be happy with God: be happy in the presence of the father. Smile a lot when you hear his name. Play gospel music, dance, and show appreciation.
  5. Obey God: try your best to do the things that God has asked us to do, and pray for the strength to do so from God himself.
  6. Tell others about God: testify to his holy name, and testify to his goodness. He will smile knowing that you have good things to say about him, and that you care.

  1. I needed this. I am going through a very difficult time. I lost my mom three months ago (and my dad a year and a half prior). I am alone. I stopped “believing.” Didn’t want to get my hopes up that somehow I could still be taken care of. I am very alone. I am depressed and anxious..and mentally ill. Lots of things are going on. I want to be able to call my mom and tell her. I want my mom to be there for me. And she is not. I am trying to learn about God trust. It’s hard for me (someone with OCD) to believe that something comes from nothing. All my life I was raised Catholic and believed in God (until I saw that others did not). It made me question things. Then after my dad died..I really questioned. I could not feel my dad around me, so I thought that it was all made up and my dad was just 6 foot under… It’s very hard for me to get my hopes up that God is there. I am very alone…. I want to have a relationship with him. I do pray to him. But as I write this I cry..because I don’t have that faith that I need. Please pray for me.

    • Hello Friend, I am so sorry to hear that you are going through all of this friend. However, please do not lose hope. I too have had down moments, I can testify to the fact that it does pass away. Please do not lose hope, the bible says in Psalms 34:19
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.”
God would definitely help you. If you ever need to talk, you are welcome to speak to me whenever you want. I would be sure to put you in my prayers as well. May God’s blessings be with you. Please do not cry anymore, God would heal you, Amen. ❤ ❤

      • Thank you. I may start reading the bible. I started with a children’s bible last night (the old testament). My brother brought a bible to me this morning. Isn’t psalms..songs? Are they truly from God? Please forgive me. I have OCD and look for certainty. Thank you for your time. And your prayers.

      • I was recently just thinking of you. I am glad that you are here. Yes, the words in the bible are written by men, but they were inspired by the holy spirit. You will find direct words from God there, descriptions of events, words from Jesus, reflections from the writers and so much more. It is a huge book, filled with a lot of material. Do let me know the chapter you decide to start with. Psalms is nice.
