Are God’s standards too high?

Estimated Reading time: Around 5 minutes

I remember the first time that I looked at the book of Peter.

1 Peter 1: 15 – 16 says “15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”[a]

In that moment, I froze. I thought to myself, but God is perfect, is he asking us to be perfect? Is that even possible? I remember that I just glanced over the page and flipped to the next page thinking that that portion was unrealistic. However, 1 year+ since reading that verse, I now understand that although it could be impossible with man, it is possible with God. There is so much that will change about you when God begins to dwell with you. After a few months of taking my relationship with God seriously, I began to experience less anger sprouts. I had better temper and did not get angry readily. I was changing. I began to let go of attitudes that initially felt impossible to let go of.

The Bible says in Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness”

Although it seems impossible, it is possible but might take time. You do not become better simply because you decided to, but because you are spending time with God and your focus is now different. You also begin to see the big picture.

(Father, I pray that everyone reading this post right now would experience your move in their life for good. God fill them with your spirit, your love, and your light. Empty them of them, and fill them with you, In Jesus name I pray, Amen).
