To anyone who is observant, you will notice that when forces of darkness takes hold over a community, one of the first things that will occur there is sexual immorality. Remember in the Bible that God revealed to Balaam (a diviner) that he was going to give the land to the Israelites. When the ruler of the land asked Balaam for advice, Balaam knew that fighting the Israelites was out of the question, so he advised the ruler to use sexual immorality to entice the Israelites.
Revelations 2:14 states: “But I have a few complaints against you. You tolerate some among you whose teaching is like that of Balaam, who showed Balak how to trip up the people of Israel. He taught them to sin by eating food offered to idols and by committing sexual sin.
Why Did Balaam entice the Israelites to commit sexual immorality and worshipping other idols? Why not theft, why not lies, why not greed? I mean they are sins too. Why Sexual immorality?
I find my answer in the book of 2nd Peter.
2 Peter 2: 9 -10 States “So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment. He is especially hard on those who follow their own twisted sexual desire, and who despise authority”.
So, we know from this verse that Balaam wanted God to be hard on the Israelites, that is why he suggested sexual immorality (twisted sexual desires) to entice them.
But Why Is Sexual Sin A Big Deal?
1 Corinthians 6:18 says “Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body”.
Why is a sin against the body a big deal?
1 Corinthians 6:15-17: Don’t you realize that your bodies are actually parts of Christ? Should a man take his body, which is part of Christ, and join it to a prostitute? Never! And don’t you realize that if a man joins himself to a prostitute, he becomes one body with her? For the Scriptures say, “The two are united into one.” But the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him.
The answer is simple, with sexual immorality, the devil is able to entice people to desecrate the temple of God (which is their body), and take on the parts of other people ( who are most likely sexually immoral too) and be joined with them in the spirit, which weakens the person. A lot of people like to promote sexual freedom as a free card that we have won with modernization, but all of that large and wide sex with different people that is often promoted in the media is a free ticket to falling out with God. Brethren, be wise.
(Father, I pray that you give everyone reading this the strength to do right by you with our bodies and to flee from sexual immorality. Father, help all of our desires, including our bodily desires, to be in sync with your will. I pray all of these in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen).
