God does not tempt us

Dear Brethren, how are you all doing? I hope this message meets you well. I am sure you must have heard the words “God is tempting me to test me” before. However, is this claim even biblical? We know from scripture that the Lord’s prayer includes the words “and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil“. Brethren, the Bible tells us that God does not tempt us, and we are not to make such claims, it is the human desires that we have that tempt us and make us want to sin. The Bible mentions this clearly in the Book of James.

James 1: 13-14 New Living Translation says

13 And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong,[a] and he never tempts anyone else. 14 Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away

One of the biggest things that we have to work on as Christians, is subduing and taking charge of the desires of the flesh. Whether it be lust, pride, etc., we need to work on it. But in all of this, we need to remember that God does not tempt us.

I pray in the name of Jesus, that every form of temptation standing as a stumbling block be erased in your path in the name of Jesus, Amen. May our names be and remain in the book of life and may God keep us strong, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
