Dear Brethren, I hope this message meets you well. Today, I would like to talk about fear, especially the fear of man. The book of Numbers Chapter 13 and 14 details what happened to the Israelites on their journey to the promised land. Moses had sent Israelite spies to check out the promised land, to check out how strong their people were, ahead of going to subdue the land. However, the spies came back and made the people scared by talking about how strong the people in promised land were, and how much they would not be able to win a war against them. The Lord had told them that he would give them that land, but the people panicked and began to say they would not go into the land, because they feared that they would not be able to win a battle against the people in the land.
The sequence of the story in Numbers Chapter 13 & 14 tells us something important. it tells us that fear leads to a lack of faith. Although the people had seen the Lord part the red sea for them to cross through, in their fear, they forgot all of that and began to doubt the Lord. Fear, in this context, was specifically the fear of man.
There are many people who have the fear of man. However, what we need to have is the fear of God. Unbelief and faithlessness is in itself a problem that many people face. However, this is something worth praying out.
The Bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Fear causes unbelief, and unbelief causes disobedience. As Christians, we need to always work on increasing our fear of God, lessening our fear of man, and asking for God to increase us in faith.
Father, I pray that you increase everyone reading this blog right now in faith in the name of Jesus. I pray that you would help us to understand how truly great you are and what you can do for us. Father, I thank you for you are mighty. Father, I pray that we and our loved ones would be included and remain in your book of life forever, in the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
