Hello Brethren,
I hope this message meets you well.
As is my usual way of doing, I am back with another post. Today, I want to talk about the importance of consulting God before making any major decision. Consulting God is also a good idea for minor decisions too. Consulting God is always a good idea. Consulting God is specifically important because a lot of people waste resources on things that are profitless. God can see the future, he knows how everything that starts will end. God knows not just about the future, but God also has the power to bless you with assistance along the way. However, sometimes people have wasted their resources on a void option before calling on God for assistance. A good example that we see in the Bible is the story of King Amaziah.
The Bible says in 2 Chronicles 25:7-10
7 But a man of God came to him and said, “Your Majesty, do not hire troops from Israel, for the Lord is not with Israel. He will not help those people of Ephraim! 8 If you let them go with your troops into battle, you will be defeated by the enemy no matter how well you fight. God will overthrow you, for he has the power to help you or to trip you up.”
9 Amaziah asked the man of God, “But what about all that silver I paid to hire the army of Israel?”
The man of God replied, “The Lord is able to give you much more than this!” 10 So Amaziah discharged the hired troops and sent them back to Ephraim. This made them very angry with Judah, and they returned home in a great rage.
As you see in this story, King Amaziah already paid silver to hire Israel’s army before consulting God. Upon consulting God (through a man of God), he sees that he actually wasted the silver because there is no victory in the path he chose. Indeed, Brethren, to avoid making mistakes such as this, is the reason why we need to always consult God first, and we do this in the place of prayer and asking God to reveal his will to us.
