Will Division In the Church Help Reveal The True Believers?

Hello Brethren,

I hope this message meets you well

As is my usual way of doing, I am back with another post. Today, I want to talk about divisions within the body of Christ. The truth is, the church today has a lot of divisions. Different people believe different things about God. An average Mormon or an average Jehovah Witness has a different belief system to an extent from an average orthodox Christian. We have different ideas and different sects, and sometimes I wonder, why is there so much division if we all worship the same God and the same Jesus. That is something that has been on my mind since I joined the Christian faith. However, upon reading the Bible, I seem to have found something to ponder on:

The Bible says in the 1 Corinthians 11:18-19

18 First, I hear that there are divisions among you when you meet as a church, and to some extent I believe it. 19 But, of course, there must be divisions among you so that you who have God’s approval will be recognized!

However, we need to read this scripture in context, because the scripture is actually in reference to the behavior of Christians at the Lord’s Supper.

1 Corinthians 11:17-22

Order at the Lord’s Supper
17 But in the following instructions, I cannot praise you. For it sounds as if more harm than good is done when you meet together. 18 First, I hear that there are divisions among you when you meet as a church, and to some extent I believe it. 19 But, of course, there must be divisions among you so that you who have God’s approval will be recognized!

20 When you meet together, you are not really interested in the Lord’s Supper. 21 For some of you hurry to eat your own meal without sharing with others. As a result, some go hungry while others get drunk. 22 What? Don’t you have your own homes for eating and drinking? Or do you really want to disgrace God’s church and shame the poor? What am I supposed to say? Do you want me to praise you? Well, I certainly will not praise you for this!

However, I cannot help but apply this scripture to the current situation of the Church. As new sects come up and we are able to compare their beliefs to the word of God, we realize who the true believers are. To an extent, I think the divisions are making clearer who the true believers are. However, I fear that people are being lied to and being deceived by some Christian sects. People who otherwise would have had a pure understanding of what the word of the Lord truly teaches. This is just my opinion, but please do tell me, what do you think? do you think division in the church is helping to reveal the true believers?
