Jezebel was the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians. The Zidonians occupied the land of Sidon and Tyre. These people were wicked and worshiped idols. Their god was Baal and their goddess was Ashtoreth.
A marriage of political convenience was formed between Jezebel and Ahab the son of Omri (king of Israel). Jezebel, as we will find out later, is an evil woman but she also married into an evil family.
“But Omri wrought evil in the eyes of the Lord, and did worse than all that were before him. 26For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin, to provoke the Lord God of Israel to anger with their vanities.” 1 Kings 16:25-26

Jezebel was beyond evil- she was treacherous! I’ve known many women who had “a jezebel spirit” and they are the type you don’t want to be anywhere near! Thank you for this!
